Get to Know Me
My name is Eugenia, everyone calls me Gennie. As a postpartum and birth doula, my primary goal is to assist expectant parents in achieving an intentional and meaningful birth experience. I firmly believe in the importance of providing continuous and compassionate care throughout the entire birth process, aligning with my core values. The families I support are those who value being actively involved and well-informed in their pregnancy, labor, and birth journey.
Being married to an active duty Navy sailor, we have lived all around the world, always far from our families. It was far from home where my first daughter was born, and she taught me that a mother's love could coexist with the need and desperation to feel cared for, and supported during birth and the postpartum period. In some of the other places we have been the role of a doula is even non existent like for example; Spain. So, all the new mothers and fathers whom I knew that were living there, far from their families, were trying to find that “village” you’re supposed to have to raise a child, without being able to find someone who could offer them that support. And this is empathy, care and above all, the information and empowerment that Doulas give. That’s why I made the decision to become a Doula.
And I haven’t stopped getting trained! I continue daily so that I can offer the most up-to-date and professional service to the families.
I am always trying to actively participate in our community creating more knowledge about our role and awareness about the imperial need for more doulas.
My Doula Values
Birth is a miraculous process, creating a miracle as you bring new life into the world.
Your well-being matters just as much as your baby's health.
It's okay to want to influence your birth experience.
Embracing birth plans means being well-informed and empowered.
This is your baby, your body, and your birth; you are responsible for it.
Birth is an active process; it's something you do, not something done to you.
How you feel about birth can impact how you give birth.
Birth is a feminist issue, recognizing diverse birthing individuals.
Every birth is a sacred and valid experience.
You are stronger than you think; believe in yourself, you CAN do this!
Informed consent is crucial throughout the journey.
Knowing your options empowers you to make the best decisions.
Social conditioning about birth can be challenging to navigate.
We live in a culture where birth is often seen as a medical event. It doesn’t have to necessarily be, or at least it can still have the human and natural side of it.
Change may bring stress, loss, and grief, but it's okay; we'll support you on this adventure.
